A new project is exploring the community's ideas, to inspire a proposal for a potential temporary development on an empty plot of land near Hackney Wick.

The purpose of this study is to research the needs of local residents, workers and businesses, and explore how the site could answer demand for a variety of workspace, employment, cultural and community uses.

GET INVOLVED

This is a chance for anyone in the community to share their ideas and have their say. Take part to help guide the project, and ensure that the designs for the space can offer new opportunities for independent businesses, community organisations and local people.

WHAT KIND OF SPACE DOES THE COMMUNITY NEED?

WORKSPACE

A core focus of the work will be exploring how a development could create a range of new workspaces to support local SMEs and independent workers in a number of industries. We are seeking ideas for the kind of space that local entrepreneurs need to bring their ideas to life, or grow their businesses or creative practices to the next stage.

With all its projects, Make Shift aims to transform underused urban spaces into new destinations that support independent businesses and provide local employment opportunities. LLDC and East Wick and Sweetwater have funded this project as part of their work to support local businesses and create new jobs in the area.

PUBLIC SPACE

If a project does go ahead at Clarnico Quay, it will act as a new open, public space that will welcome and benefit the whole community.

We are seeking ideas for communal public facilities and features that can bring people together and offer new experiences and opportunities to local people.

CULTURAL & EVENTS SPACE

There is the potential to propose ideas for new venues and spaces that could host public events, community meetings, exhibitions, performances and entertainment

If you have ideas for a cultural space that could benefit people in the local area, please share your ideas with us.
